Safari
This 8-day classic safari takes you to Tanzania’s iconic wildlife locations, including Tarangire, Lake Manyara, the Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti’s vast plains. Each park is uniquely different, with its different species to see. On this safari, you will see the open savannah lined with acacia trees and hundreds of animals on the horizon. The savannah sunrise and sunset will be a magnificent orange that engulfs the sky. This trip will bring to life what you imagined an African safari being.
Your first day on safari will start with an early departure from the city to arrive at Tarangire National Park for a full-day game drive. This park is most famous for the large elephant herds that roam through and the ancient baobab trees over 1000 years old. In the dry season, the Tarangire River is the only water source in the area, bringing many animals to the area.
We will depart from the park late afternoon and drive to your accommodation for the night.
After an early breakfast, we will drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a full day's game drive. Located just below the great valley rift, it is well known for tree-climbing lions. The lake can be seen lined with flamingoes, and over 300 bird species migrate to the shores of Lake Manyara.
In the late afternoon, we depart and drive to your accommodations for the evening.
Today we drive to Serengeti National Park, driving through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Along the drive, you will see the landscape change as you enter the vast plains of the Serengeti. Today will be your first glimpse of why the Maasai named the area Serengeti, which means "endless plains."
During the drive, we will stop for animal viewings along the way. Once you enter Serengeti, you will have a game drive while continuing en-route to your accommodations for the night.
You will spend the entire day in the Serengeti National Park. You will have a full day on a game drive in the park, and you will be able to grasp the extensive size of the Serengeti quickly. Today will be a good day to find some of the big cats that roam the grasses of the Serengeti. The short grasses in the area make it easier to spot lions, cheetahs, leopards and hyenas. Stay out as long as you want on today's game drive until evening if you wish. Late in the day, we will drive back to your accommodations for the night. Depending on the season and wildlife location, we will decide the best options for accommodations.
Today you will spend another entire day in the Serengeti National Park. We will drive towards the great migration. The migration of millions of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles changes throughout the year as they move between the Serengeti and Maasai Mara, looking for green pastures. This is a unique experience to witness the largest mammal migration in the world. Depending on the season, you may encounter the migration crossing the Mara River, with the crocodiles waiting below or witnessing calving season as millions of new births arrive on the green pastures of the plains Ndutu region. You have a full day on a game drive in the park, and late in the day, we will drive back to your accommodations for the night or move to a different location within the park.
Today you will spend another full day in Serengeti National Park. You continue to follow the wildlife locations and enjoy the sunsets that engulf the skies with vibrant oranges and reds. The different wildlife encounters you continue to have will surprise you, how something new and exciting can happen every day on safari. You have a full day on a game drive in the park and spend the night within the Serengeti.
Today you can have a later start if you want, as we depart the Serengeti and drive to the Ngorongoro rim for the night. As always, you will have a game drive en-route, stopping for animals we come across during the drive. Your accommodations will be within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Today is an early start to descend into Ngorongoro Crater. The Ngorongoro is one of the 7 natural wonders of the world. As you enter, you will see first hand why. Within the crater, the "big 5" can be seen with a good possibility of spotting the rare black rhinoceros due to the small size of the crater. Inside the crater, you will find many animals coexisting in nature. With lions, elephants, hyenas, zebras, flamingoes, buffalo, and many more, it will surely amaze you how many animals live in this area.
Then we will depart and return to the city in the late afternoon.
