Marangu waterfall is located on the slopes of Kilimanjaro. To get to the waterfall, there is a short descent through the forest, about a 45-minute walk, and just below the waterfall is commonplace for people to swim if you do not mind the cold water too much.
The Chagga tribe is a tribe of people living on the southern slope of Kilimanjaro. After hiking to the waterfall, we will stop at the nearby Chagga caves to learn more about the history and walk through parts of the caves. The Chagga tribe built the caves they lived in during their war with the Maasai people. This is a wonderful way to learn more about the local tribe and immerse yourself in the culture. Afterwards, we will stop for a local Chagga lunch, and here you can try the local banana beer.
