On the eastern side of Tanzania, you will find the Usambara Mountains. One of the best-kept secrets in Tanzania, an area not commonly seen by tourists. You can choose to hike through the mountain range or if unable to hike long distances transport can easily be arranged as well.
This mountain range has unique, beautiful terrain and vast amounts of flora and fauna endemic to the region. When hiking through the Usambara Mountains, you will walk through lush green rainforests, villages, tea and coffee plantations, and local farms. You will be able to immerse yourself in the culture of the area. Staying in lodges and local accommodations at the different villages along the way, each one is comfortable and clean, and your luggage will be transported for you while you trek.
The following itinerary is based on seeing and experiencing the best parts of the Usambara Mountains. It can be altered for any itinerary and timeline from 1-6 days. We can also easily adjust the walking distances with less or more transportation between villages if needed.
Today you will drive from your departing city to Lushoto village. After arriving in Lushoto, you will have lunch and meet your local guide, who will accompany you through your trek. Once settled, you will go to Kisasa Falls, a must-see waterfall. After the waterfall, you will go to a viewpoint of either Irente Viewpoint or Yogoi Viewpoint, both with astounding views and a great place to wait and watch the sunset.
Today you will start your trek after breakfast. With the local guide, you will make your way from the starting point of Lukozi village to Rangwai village. You will trek through villages and have an excellent opportunity to observe local life as you pass through the local villages and farmland in the area with views of the rolling hills. Your guide will look for the two-horned chameleons found in the Usambara Mountains. You will end the day at your accommodations in Rangwai village.

Today the trek will be from Rangwai village to Mambo village. While on the trek, you will have the opportunity to stop at Mabughai village to see the locals make pottery and watch as they make clay pots.
Your accommodations will be at Mambo Viewpoint Eco Lodge or Mambo Cliff Inn tonight. These accommodations are said to have the best viewpoint in the Usambara Mountains. So after arriving, just relax and enjoy the view for the night

Today after breakfast, we will depart and drive back to your departure city. You will arrive in the afternoon, where the tour will end, as you will be dropped off at your accommodations.
